free stuff

Traveling is expensive, so it’s nice when I don’t have to shell out some cash in order to see something (usually a museum, but not always). This page lists establishments that either offer free admission at all times, or waive the fee on certain days. It’s not a comprehensive list, just the stuff that I know about from having personally visited.

As always, it’s best to check an establishment’s website for the latest information.

Vienna

Several branches of the Vienna Museum offer free admission on the first Sunday of the month.
MAK (Museum für angewandte Kunst/Museum of Applied Arts) offers free admission every Tuesday evening from 18:00 to 22:00
The Museum of Military History offers free admission on the first Sunday of the month.
Museums and various institutions (like Parlament) offer free or reduced admission on Austrian National Day, October 26.
